Position: Web Developer
Description: Full-time.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree, able to effectively manage large-scale projects, meet deadlines, and to work and think independently, experience with Content Management Systems, preferably Drupal and WordPress, proficiency in developing and testing within a mixed Microsoft and Linux shop, experience programming in PHP (4 and 5), including basic OOP principles and the use of PDO with multiple database engines, experience developing and maintaining databases with MySQL 5.x and ability to maintain and migrate existing Microsoft SQL Server 2005 functionality, proficiency in appropriate web design and web management software: DreamWeaver, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, Google Analytics, proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (jQuery, etc.) including common performance optimization methodologies, efficient, well-organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple tasks, Mac / PC cross-platform and cross-browser web design experience, knowledge of web security implementations and strategies (XSS, CSRF, SQL injection, etc.), strong problem solving ability. Desired Skills: Windows 2003 and Linux (Debian / Ubuntu) server administration, Apache 2.x configuration and administration, IIS 6.0 administration and knowledge of security best practices, knowledge of visual design principles.
Responsibilities: The primary responsibilities of the Converse College Web Developer are to: 1) Provide main programming and support for the Converse College website 2) Develop and maintain the databases for the Converse College website 3) Develop, manage and support the Content Management System and its users 4) Collaborate with the Web Content Manager to enhance the user experience 5) Ensure and continually test the security of the website and its databases Tasks and Responsibilities: Develop web applications and functionality and integrate with Content Management System, collaborate with Art Director, Director of Communications and Web Content Manager to conceptualize and implement an engaging user experience for the website, collaborate with the Director of Communications, Director of Admissions, and the admissions team to develop a compelling web presence for admissions that supports recruitment strategies and aligns appropriately with recruitment print materials, work with academic and administrative departments to identify needs for new online functions outside of those offered by a Content Management System, closely monitor site security for breaches, and use security best practices as preventative maintenance, keep abreast of current web technology and continually pursue new web initiatives that support Converse’s image as a quality, liberal arts institution for women, assist Web Content Manager with assessment of other excellent Websites (particularly those in higher education), best practice and web trends data for use in Website planning and development, establish specific, measurable goals for the Website and recommend strategies to improve results, make budgeting recommendations to support the site, assist with content management and other web projects as needed.

Position: Campus Safety Officer
Description: Full-time.
Qualifications: Minimum 21 years of age, High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent, valid driver’s license, must qualify for firearms and legals, must pass SLED certificates and a background check. Honesty and integrity, the ability to remain calm and to function efficiently in the worst imaginable circumstances, leadership, good oral and written communication skills, thorough knowledge of the criminal law and traffic regulations which he/she is charged with enforcing; basic qualifications in first-aid and CPR techniques, ability to drive motor vehicles safely in both normal and emergency situations, skill in the use of several items of police equipment including firearms, two-way radios, fingerprint equipment, cameras, etc.
Responsibilities: Patrol the campus, either on foot or in a patrol vehicle, with a two-way radio. Must have a thorough working knowledge of the campus including its topography, buildings, streets, persons, organizations, and various campus groups and their relationships. Constant patrol of his/her assigned area to observe persons and property therein for the purpose of preventing criminal acts. The deterrent factor is one of his/her most important functions. Lock/unlock and check buildings for security, particularly at night. Keep a constant watch for fire, fire hazards, safety hazards, and other dangerous situations. Observe suspicious persons or circumstances with the aim of crime prevention and apprehension of criminals. Enforce federal and state laws. Enforce campus traffic and parking regulations. Make arrests in accordance with departmental arrest policy. Investigate violations of college policy within his/her patrol area/the patrol officer is the primary investigator for all minor complaints/major cases are referred to the Spartanburg Public Safety Department. Investigate all complaints within jurisdiction, both traffic and non-traffic. Responsible to recognize and apprehend wanted persons, wanted automobiles, and stolen property within college jurisdiction, even though the crimes may have happened in other jurisdictions. Give first aid to injured or sick persons; provides or arranges for necessary transportation. Direct traffic when necessary to relieve congestion or provide special controls. Escort deposits and/or deliver bank bags to bank or Business Office according to SLED procedures for premise security companies. Escort females upon request after dark. Perform special service functions as required, such as escorting heavy equipment, etc. Writes a thorough report on every complaint, accident, or other significant incident. Other duties may involve detective work and court appearances.
